I believe that a woman’s body was designed specifically to birth babies, and that the vast majority of the time, everything works just as it was created to. I also believe that medical interventions have their proper place in labor and birth, and are beneficial and life-saving only when they are used judiciously in the best interests of mother and child, and with the mother’s fully informed consent. I also believe it is my job as a doula to educate my clients regarding their options to the best of my ability, and to provide referrals if I cannot provide answers. Most of all, I believe that women should be trusted to make the best decision for their situation, and expect to be fully supported by her caregivers.
