Education Option FAQ’s

Childbirth Class Options

Where is your class held?

I hold class sessions at Alliance Breastfeeding Center 5664 N Academy Blvd.
(SW of Vickers off of Academy behind Taco Bell). If class is to be held elsewhere, I will let you know.

How is your class different?

Informative, Fun and Interactive! It is a dynamic and cooperative learning environment.
Unbiased in approach and information. Class is kept fresh with several different teaching aids, hands on activities, class participation and special guests. I bring a unique insight of the local birth environment as I am also a labor doula in addition to being a childbirth educator.

What about the breathing techniques?

Ah the old hee-hee-hoo breathing is on your mind.
I do not teach paced breathing. In class deep abdominal breathing, diaphragmatic breathing, relaxation breath (cleansing breath) are modeled and practiced. There is proven benefit to how we breathe.

What is the best time in pregnancy to attend childbirth education?

Early third trimester for group class so the learned skills can be put into practice and become patterned behavior prior to labor. For the VBAC class, late second trimester to early third trimester.
Postpartum Strategies is recommended mid to late second trimester before the fullness and busyness of the third trimester occurs.

Can the private classes become semi-private?

Yes. If 2-3 couples would like to have a semi-private class together to split the cost that is doable.
