This weekend is coming up fast! What plans do you have? I have family coming in for a five-day visit, I’m on call for a midwife, and I’m trying to put together some bouquets for my sister’s upcoming wedding. In the meantime, here are a few things worth reading this weekend.

Interested in reading more? “Like” my Facebook page, since I tend to share a lot more of these on my Facebook page, almost daily!

Happy weekending to you!

I am officially a CAPPA Certified Labor Doula, and can use the initials “CLD” after my name! Don’t believe me? Here’s a quote from my congratulatory email I received from Val Staples, a CAPPA Executive Assistant:

Dear Tiffany,
Congratulations! You have completed the CAPPA Labor Doula Certification Program, and are a certified labor doula. You can now use the initials CLD after your name.

On with the links for this weekend. They are many! Enjoy!

Weekend Links

Friday, May 1st, 2009

The most exciting link I have to share this week…
This new Homebirth vs. Hospital Birth study uses an unprecedented 530,00-ish women! This link is to the full text of the study, done in the Netherlands, where the majority of their population turns to midwives for their prenatal care, and they rank far above the US in infant mortality. (Maternal mortality as well, but I can’t find that link currently. Buried in my bookmarks somewhere.)

This new study is exciting, because the last major study midwives have been referencing has a much smaller sample – only 5,400 women, and has been called into question by skeptics and anti-homebirth advocates.

I hope this can put many people’s minds at ease who worry about their loved ones making the choice to birth at home. Take the time to read the study, and realize that though home birth may not be for everyone, it is most definitely the best option for many. Feel free to support your loved ones in this decision – that’s what they need the most.

C-Sections, Pelvises, and Breastfeeding Toddlers (How can you resist?)

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

Make sure you watch this video to the very end – it has a wonderful message for ALL mothers, not just those who choose to breastfeed their toddlers.

I know it’s been touch-and-go here, but I really want to take my time to make this blog look professional, so I can use it for my “official” website for the forseeable future. By the way, do you like the new look? I think it looks a step up from what it was before, but I’m still trying to make the pages work the way I want them to. So far, not happening. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get some help soon.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Baby, You’re Home: Midwives say homebirths are up, despite warnings.
Aaaand…there’s a problem with that? I don’t think so!

Surveys Were Meant to Be Redundant

I don’t really have any linkityness for you this weekend, so here you go. Have fun, and let me know if you fill it out too…

Have a good weekend!!!

Do certain songs remind you of certain people?
Depends, really. I have the radio on all the time, but I don’t really get to “listen” a whole lot…and when I do, the song usually reminds me of myself and where I’m at.

What is the last thing you used your own money for?
A gallon of milk. Although, technically, it’s not “my” own money. 🙂 Family budget and all that nonsense.

Last person you hugged?
I think Levi…I hug a lot of people.

Would you make a good parent?
All I can say is that I do my best, and pray to God that He fills in all my many, many gaps.

What was the first thing you saw this morning?
My wall.

Who are all the texts in your inbox from?
Noooo textie…

Have you ever had a best friend that was a member of the opposite sex?
Just Levi.

Were you in a relationship two days ago?
Yes. Yes I was.

How often do you shower?
Often enough. 🙂

When was your last kiss?
Not too long ago…a certain man I know can’t keep his lips off me.

What was the last thing you did outside?
Watched the kids play in the leaves right after we got home from a looooong day of errands. The wind is blowing today, and the kids were pretending that all the leaves blowing down the street were mice in a race – and they were cheering them on. Especially Feivel and Tonya, who I think were the winners.

Who was the last person you argued with today?
Durin, I believe…except, it doesn’t really count, because though he argues with me, I usually just tell him that it’s not a discussion. (As if that works).

Do you tie your shoes the bunny-loop way?
I did until the 5th grade, when my 5-year-old sister taught me how to do it the “right” way!

Can you tell when something bad is gonna happen?
Sometimes I get a feeling about a situation, and I’ve learned to obey that God-given intuition.

Who was the last person you heard sing?
Levi. He’s always singing. All the time.

Last people you did a 3-way Call with?
I think I’ve had one with Peg & Lynn, and Jeff & Liorah.

Do you tend to wake up early or sleep in late?
I wake up when the kids wake up, but I need to start waking earlier than them. Get a headstart and all that jazz.

When someone talks about you, do you get upset?
I’ll be honest, I do. I’m very tender about that, and I haven’t grown into the wisdom that says that it only matters what God thinks…

Midnight, who were you texting?
I was sleeping, homey!

How different are you from three years ago?
Hmmm…I’m probably a bit more mature. More frugal. More green. And I have 2 more children than I did 3 years ago.

Do you like your life?
I most definately do! It could use more chocolate, though.

Do you have a friend that starts with the letter x?
I don’t.

Do you have someone of the opposite sex you can tell everything to?
Levi and Jesus.

Honestly,what are you sick of?
Fake people.

Who was the last to sleep in your bed?
Just me…that whole working nights things is really a drag.

Has someone disappointed you recently?
Yes. Very much so. But I’m over it.

Are you still friends with people from kindergarten?
Nope. I’ve heard news via my mom about a few of them, but no friendships.

Do you want to see someone this very minute?
I’m a-hankerin’ ta see ma kin.

Who was the last person you had a deep conversation with?
Levi. (Gee. He comes up a lot in these things, doesn’t he?)

Who was the last person you cried in front of?
Again with the Levi!

If someone liked you right now, would you want them to tell you?
No. I’m married. That would be creepy.

Have you heard a song that reminds you of anyone today?
Not particularly, no.

Do you believe in forever?
Forever is the only thing that matters…everything else is just a shadow.

Has someone ever made a promise to you and broken it?
Who hasn’t? We’ve all made promises we’ve broken. That’s why I don’t promise anymore.

Do you still talk to the person you fell hardest for?
Every single day!

Does anyone hate you?
I’m pretty sure I know someone who does, actually. But that’s ok…mostly.

Have you ever been a gymnast or a cheerleader?
I was a gymnast for awhile during my elementary years. I never mastered the back walkover.

Have you ever done something really dumb?
LOL! Ask anyone who knows me. They will all have at least ONE story.

Do you hate the last girl/guy you had a conversation with?
I don’t hate anyone…I save my hatred for my own sin. It’s like anything in your life you want to get rid of – you can’t really be free of it until you HATE its presence in your life.

Do you give out second chances too easily?
Too easily? Sometimes, I suppose I still do. I’ve learned pretty well the difference between forgiveness and just making a doormat of myself.

Do you believe exs can be friends?
I echo what Beth said: With God, all things are possible, but I don’t think it’s always wise. You have to be careful.

Have you given up on anyone?
I have. But then God kicks my butt, and I get back in line. He never gives up on me, so what right do I have to do that to others?

Could you ever be friends again with someone that broke your heart?
I’ve never had my heart truly broken in that way. But, yes, I do believe that healing can take place in any relationship, as long as it’s God at the head.

Do you like someone that doesn’t know you like them?
Ha! No. I only like one macho man, and he KNOWS it. Thankyouverymuch.

Do you know anybody named Wade?
I knew a guy in Jr. High & High School…

Have you ever liked somebody and never told them?
